Simple Meal Planning for Busy Students

5 min read

Meal planning for teenagers doesn't need to mean meal prepping every dish for the week. A more realistic starting point is thinking in terms of simple patterns: a source of protein, a carbohydrate, and something from a fruit or vegetable at most meals.

Planning ahead — even loosely, like knowing what's for dinner or packing a snack before a long practice — tends to reduce reliance on whatever is quickest or most convenient in the moment, which is often less balanced.

Batch-preparing a few basics (grains, proteins, cut vegetables) at the start of the week can save time without requiring a rigid plan for every single meal.

These are general strategies. Students with specific dietary needs, allergies, or medical conditions should plan meals in consultation with a parent, guardian, or healthcare professional.
